About Us

The Yeronga Park Swimming Club has a long and proud history in local, state, national and international arenas of the sport. Established in 1965 by the Henry’s family who are still members of the club today, the club has evolved to its current standing through the hard work of dedicated swimmers, parents and coaches. The members display great Club spirit in all activities and events proudly wearing the club colours of Green and Gold.

The Club enjoys a great association with Shelly the Leasee of the Yeronga Park Swimming Complex whose support has been a corner stone of the clubs success.

Our club is proud to have as its patrons Mrs. Hazel O'Brien, Mr. Russell Henry and Mr Kevin Kelly. Life members of Yeronga Pool include the Van DerZant Family, Shelly Douyere, the Mewing and de Ambrosis families and Jason Cooper and Ray Cooper.

YERONGA PARK SWIMMING CLUB recommences September 2010 for the 10/11 season.  We will have booklets at the front desk informing members of the swim meets for the season and what is on each Wednesday evening for club night.

Shelly Douyere - Pool Lessee since 1989

Shelly has been the lessee for the past 21 years and has seen many changes at the complex.

Shelly achieved a "Graduate Diploma in Elite Sports Coaching" in 1994.  All coaching at an Elite Level is now being coached by Rick Van Der Zant who has bought many swimmers through to National and International Level.

Shelly and her 4 children Ash, Clay, Forrest and Reed are all involved in the swimming complex and take pride in the fact the complex is a family business, working for the families of the Yeronga Community.

Shelly is still coaching the Swim Fit squad 3 mornings a week, but mostly the role of the Lessee is administration.  Yeronga Park employed 44 staff in summer of 2010.  Showing the complex's growth of the pool over the past 20 years.
